This flood line starts from years of this gauge’s history — the level the river only tops a few days a year. Reports of a flooded or passable day will tune it to the path itself.
About this path
The Ouse Valley Way circuit linking St Ives, the Hemingfords and Houghton Mill across working water meadows. The meadows are designed to flood when the Great Ouse rises and do so in most years — Hemingford Meadow is frequently impassable in late autumn and winter, while the Thicket Path to Houghton keeps to higher ground.
