Through the year

Over the past year the river reached the level where parts of this path can start to flood on one day, mostly in September, but didn’t reach the level where it’s usually properly flooded.

At its highest the river stayed 18 cm below the level where the path usually floods properly.

From this gauge’s own record over the year to July 2026, measured against the level we estimate this path floods at. It’s a guide to the season, not a forecast.

About this path

The promenaded riverside walk through Wharfemeadows and Tittybottle Parks beside Otley Bridge, with boat hire and play areas on the Otley Riverside Trail. The parks sit on the Wharfe's floodplain and went fully under in the December 2015 and February 2020 storms; the 2021 flood alleviation scheme reduced the risk but did not remove it.
